Saul Bass

Saul Bass was born in 1920 in the Bronxs. He was not only one of the great graphic designers of the mid-20th century but the undisputed master of film title design thanks to his collaborations with Alfred Hitchcock, Otto Preminger and Martin Scorsese. His art are found in many distinctive movies of his time including “The Man with the Golden Arm” and “Vertigo.”


Saul Bass has influenced many people in his life. His works of art have inspired many artists to form a new style of art. His power of influence helps create many ads and logos including the AT&T logo.


His work has created many new creations that we see in the streets of our cities today. Saul Bass’s work is mostly on ads for major industries and movies. They produced an influence that affected many. They leave a sense of excitement for people who see these works of art.


One of his major works was the ad for the movie “Anatomy of a Murderer.” It was a major part that helped the movie gets a good review and also produced a sense of what the movie was about. You could even say that he has made a thousand word image of a movie. Saul Bass has created a new type of art that, at the time, was a big step that could have led to tragedy.


His success for being an advertising illustrator grew. He created many ads that became a symbol for many years to come. One major iconic symbol for AT&T; this symbol has been used for many years and has been iconic to all costumers of the company.


He honed his skill by creating an animated mini-movie for Mike Todd’s 1956 Around The World In 80 Days and a tearful eye for Preminger’s 1958 Bonjour Tristesse. Blessed with the gift of identifying the one image, which symbolized the movie, Bass then recreated it in a strikingly modern style.


His work has created many followers that copied or used similar styles. His work become wide spread in his time and produced many copies of his work creating a brand new style of art that is called distinctive typography and minimalistic style.


He was a great artist that had become famous in his time. He was one of the major people that have influence people in this time period.
